How can I ask for a credit limit increase?

I'm a full time college student. I don't have a source of income but have a credit card with limit of $1500. I had the card for 9 months and would like to have an increase, what are the chances?|||Your chances of getting a limit increase on a 9 month old credit card are slim and none. I'm surprised you have a $1500 limit. Normally it would be much less.

If you are actually carrying balances on this card, it is even less likely that you will get a limit increase. The best way to get any credit card to increase your limit is to use 70%+ of your limit and pay it in full for about 6 to 9 months.|||You need a good FICO score and a perfect payment history among other things. If they didn't want you as a customer, then they likely would have closed the card during this recession. The card companies in the past unilaterally increased your line when you called for something else. They would ask you if you wanted the increase or not and implement the availability that day. Now the approval process is likely much different, but all you do is call. It shouldn't affect your score as the Lender already has access to your score through your existing business. Good luck!|||Why ask for an increase? Can you get a part-time job? Every time you bump up what you owe, you will eventually have to pay for it.

Make sure you know the difference between a want and a need. Talk to people about not spending. Yes, you do have to spend to survive our society, but see if you can find a different path.

Don't get into debt over your head.
