more than a year ago my credit limit was increased by $2K. At the time (and still) I have a derrogatory item in the amount of $235 (that has been paid for 2 years). In the past 4 months they have reduced my credit limit by $2K. This last time after I paid $1100 down on my amount owed. Can I fight this?|||Don't waste your time. With the way the economy is today and bad situations the banks and credit card companies have gotten themselves into, they are lowering the limits on people with excellent credit and never late on a payment. I've read that they are even keeping track of where you use your card and if they see you are shopping at places like WalMart they figure you're in financial trouble, so they'll drop your limit. True stuff!!|||You must be able to prove you've paid the collection. Turn that information into the Credit Bureau. You can also provide proof of your income which will supp port your ability to repay.
The outcome isn't likely to change until the Credit Report shows the zero balance on the official file. Once this is done, you can find another credit card company and let the other guys know you've left them!|||That 2 year-old paid collections item probably has little to do with it. Credit card companies and financial institutions are slashing outstanding credit lines. There's no way to fight it. Debt has to be reduced to survive this crisis.
Get your bills paid off and keep your credit usage to an absolute minimum. And boost your savings and investments.|||as long as you owe a balance they are going to have that to hold against you. it's going to be difficult to win that battle.|||No they have a choice of what to offer you. You old late payment will matter less as time goes on but they are likely to lower your limit every time you don't owe as much.|||you can fight anything if you have a good lawyer.
this sounds like they're scamming you. i would def fight it.
