Does a credit card charge a fee for over the limit?

I am right at the credit limit on my credit card. Sometimes if I try to pump gas with it will say insufficient balance and I can't use it. Usually my limit goes over when interest charges come in. I never get a fee charged for being over the limit. Do most credit cards charge a fee for being over the limit?|||Bigger concern.

You are causing utter devastation to your credit and possibly your financial future by using this card the way you are|||Yes, most cards charge a fee for going over the limit. Some cards will allow a charge to go thru even tho it does put you over limit. Others won't.





In any case, you need to stop using that card and work on paying down the balance. it is really foolish to throw away $30 for overlimit fees on top of the interest you are paying by carrying that large balance.|||Yes, credit card companies will charge you for touching your credit card.|||Even if they DON'T charge a fee, they may start charging you at the maximum allowed % rate allowed. Your 'oops' on one credit card may have ALL cards now thinking you are a high risk and charging you at the maximum allowed amount, even if you pay on time each month.|||Many credit cards charge a fee if you go over the limit. It will read "over the limit charge" on your statement.
